Can you get seasick kayaking on the sea?

Yes, it is possible to get seasick in a kayak. It’s usually not quite as bad as on other boats because when you’re in a kayak, you’re near the center of the boat. So, when the kayak pitches and rolls, you’re not moving around as much.

You’ll still be moving up and down with the swell of course. Personally, I find smooth, rolling swells to be more nausea-inducing than rough, choppy water.

Many sea kayakers don’t experience motion sickness at all. Those who do usually try out the usual remedies: meclizine (Bonine), ginger candy, wrist bands. However, many people can manage by staying well hydrated and looking at the horizon instead of down at the bow of their boat.
