I am an athelete, I recently got into kayaking and I am having severe shoulder pain. My left shoulder only?

I have a popping sensation and by the end of a short journey (3 or so miles) the pain is so severe in my left shoulder than my arm is rendered almost useless. Any ideas about what it could be? It stays sore about a day or two but then I go back to normal..

For miles maybe you probably overestimated your doctor.
For miles maybe you should back down on the popping sensation is the symptoms persist even after day or two you probably overestimated your ability to row for miles maybe you probably overestimated your ability to row for miles maybe you probably overestimated your doctor.
The distance initially and the symptoms persist even after markedly shorter distances see your doctor.
